What About Snacking?
When possible, try to eat until you're satiated at each regular meal. Of course, there are going to be times when you need to grab a quick snack. Here are some great snacking options:
Nuts and nut butters (in small quantities)
Fruit (limited to a couple servings per day)
Hard-boiled eggs (Trader Joe's sells pre-packaged ones already peeled)
Bacon (nitrate free -- TJ's also has a pre-cooked bacon available or prepare some ahead of time)
Beef Jerky (aim for high quality meat without nitrates)
Pre-cooked veggies (bell pepper, zucchini, onion, yellow squash, butternut squash, etc.) Berkeley Bowl sells flame broiled veggies at their Mexican food counter (ask for a small side) and some containers of pre-cooked veggies as well.
Whey isolate protein shakes (aim for quality--avoid added sugars, etc.)
